Since 1992 World Court Project UK’s (WCPUK) core work has been to hold governments, and especially the UK government, legally accountable for their nuclear weapon policies.
Our work is based on the 1996 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the Legality of Threat or Use of Nuclear Weapons. This builds on treaty obligations, the severe restrictions International Law places on nuclear weapons, and their incompatibility with universal moral norms.
To this end we make the relevant legal material accessible to our supporters and encourage them to contact politicians and officials. We share our work with anti-nuclear groups in the UK and abroad.
World Court Project UK is a project of the Institute for Law Accountability and Peace (INLAP). For more on INLAP
