... the legal assault on nuclear weapons remains an important part of the movement against them albeit a specialist, and perhaps minority, interest.  However, it is the specialist knowledge and experience that WCP and INLAP have accumulated over many years that makes it so important that the work can continue until we succeed.  I believe that the combination of INLAP’s legal approach  - together with the obvious flouting of the law in the run-up to the Iraq invasion  - have focused attention on the legal issues  to a degree that I’ve not seen before, and will at least constrain the nuclear warriors in the future.

.. I personally spent at least a year writing citizens’ letter of inquiry to Margaret Beckett (the then Foreign Secretary) both directly and through Celia Barlow MP, generally obtaining a “big silence” or extremely opaque replies. One of my topics was the “legality of Trident”.
